Haines Watts South West, which has its head office in Bideford with further offices in Barnstaple, Launceston and Okehampton, has appointed new partner Gill Herniman. North-Devon based Gill has joined Haines Watts South West as its new agricultural specialist partner, heading up the Bideford office.

Haines Watts has more than 350 farming clients across the South West, and in her new role, Gill will look after clients primarily based in Devon and Cornwall. Previously working with a well-established South West accountancy firm, Gill has years of experience in her field of expertise. This includes, all aspects of accountancy and taxation, and working with clients to help them plan for the future of their businesses. In addition, she had responsibility for a portfolio of clients, consisting mainly of personal tax clients, sole traders, partnerships and owner managed companies. With a background in agriculture, a large proportion of Gill’s new role at Haines Watts will be to develop client relationships with farmers and farm related businesses.

Gill Herniman, partner – Haines Watts South West, said: “I am very proud to be joining Haines Watts and looking forward to working with the team to continue to provide clients with an outstanding service. As I trained with Sully & Co Barnstaple, having the opportunity to join the Haines Watts team at Sully House in Bideford is a really exciting opportunity for me – it feels like returning home.

As I’m keen to continue to grow my agricultural and rural business specialism, this fits perfectly with this exciting new opportunity. I’m very grateful to the partners for giving me the chance to work with them, to grow and build on the exceptional service they already provide to an enviable portfolio of clients in North Devon and across the region.”

Vince Edwards, managing partner of Haines Watts South West, said: “We are delighted to welcome Gill to the team, and her new appointment works well with our mid to long-term strategy to bring in younger and experienced people at a senior level, in order to expand the business going forward. Gill has a wealth of knowledge and expertise and is well-known in the local area. She is a real people to people person, and is very much looking forward to developing client contact in her new position as agricultural specialist.”
